Lot Essay

This early form column-krater features wedges connecting the tops of the handles to the rim, as opposed to later examples which have rectangular plates extending from the rim and bridging over the handles. For the later type, see J. Chamay and J-L. Maier, Céramiques corinthiennes, pp. 44-45.
