Lot Essay

Highly rare and attractive, the present Patek Philippe reference 5075G/021 from the Maison's exclusive Rare Handcrafts collection features a colorful and vibrant cloisonné enamel dial depicting ornamental decorations from the Moyen Age. It is one watch in a set of four, in which Patek Philippe only made 15 total sets, making it a keen opportunity for the astute collector to acquire this rare timepiece. All four watches from the same set are offered in the present sale.

The Reference 5075
Launched in 2000 and discontinued in 2004, the reference 5075 was produced by Patek Philippe's exclusive Rare Handcrafts division in limited edition sets of 4 watches. Each year, the Maison created new designs with cloisonné enamel dials depicting motifs such as birds, dragons, flowers, and ornamentations, as seen in the present example. Only 5 to 15 sets were manufactured of each year, leading to an approximate total of only 250 examples in 18k white gold.

The Rare Handcrafts Division
Dedicated to preserving centuries-old artisanal techniques, the Rare Handcrafts division continues to uphold traditions integral to fine watchmaking. These exquisite creations reflect the Maison's commitment to craftsmanship and artistic excellence, while reinforcing its enduring reputation among collectors.

Cloisonné enamel dials, produced individually by skilled artisans, are prized for their vibrant, enduring beauty. Formed by shaping fine gold wires into intricate designs and filling them with enamel before kiln-firing and polishing, each dial is both technically demanding and visually striking. As a result, such watches remain among the most collectible and admired expressions of horological art.
