Lot Essay
The 'Spiral' lamp was originally designed in 1942 for the main hall of the University of Ärhus and first exhibited at the Artists' Autumn Exhibition of that same year, although it was officially installed in the building after the war. Its geometric form was conceived so that every exposed surface of the spiral would receive light at the same angle, ensuring an even reflection throughout the space. The spiral-shaped shade, appearing as if formed in a single continuous motion, was extremely complex to produce and mainly destined to special spaces in Denmark, which makes the present lot extremely rare.
