Lot Essay

A handsome example of Flagg's immortal First World War recruiting poster.

In an effort to cut costs (and not hire a model) Flagg drew Uncle Sam in his own image. From there the poster took on a life of its own, becoming so iconic that the military reused the image during the Second World War. A bright and clean example.
