Lot Essay

The vase is finely potted with moulded horizontal bowstrings around the compressed globular body and columnar neck rising to a flared mouth rim. It is covered overall in a thick flambé glaze of deep red with purple and milky-blue suffusions.

Compare to a Yongzheng flambé-glazed vase of similar form and height from the YC Chen Collection, sold at Christie’s Hong Kong, In Pursuit of Refinement- A Legacy of the YC Chen Collection, 20 May 2013, lot 1901.
