A pair of Arita blue and white tapering octagonal vases and domed covers painted with continuous scenes of gamboling karashishi before a waterfall in a garden of peonies issuing from rockwork below pine, the shoulders and covers with panels of phoenix and flowersprays on grounds of stylised scrolling flowers and leaves, the necks and cover rims with further floral panels, all above bands of lappets to the feet -- 25in. (63.5cm) high, circa 1700, (some restoration).
