A late Regency mahogany eight day musical long case clock
the hood with swan neck pediment below brass sphere, spire and eagle finials, with blind fret panles and fluted column uprights wih brass caps flanking an arched brass dial with silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring enclosing an engraved centre with subsidiary seconds ring and date aperture signed within a cartouche James Thomas, CHESTER, within cherub mask spandrals, the arch with moon phase and lunar dial, the trunk with fluted pilasters below leafy capitals and a carved moulded frieze, the lower trunk with foliate carved relief panels, the fielded plinth flanked by canted angles modelled bwith tessallated ornament, on bracket feet, the three train four pillar movement with anchor escapement, striking seven bells -- 98in. (249cm) high
