the foliate engraved one-piece case with shuttered winding holes to the solid rear door, white enamel dial with alarm ring below, blued moon hands (one replaced), signed POTONIE PARIS, replaced bimetallic balance with lever platform, strike/repeat on two gongs via two hammers, alarm on further gong, with repeat signature to the backplate, French, circa 1880 -- 5¾in.
