A rare folding globe, made up of eight engraved and coloured paper gores, laid on canvas, each gore 11¾in. (29.8cm.) long, the land masses outlined in colour, decorated over the African continent and Atlantic Ocean with a human face, each gore with brass rings at the North and South Pole (four missing), with suspension cord and the original oiled paper-card cover inscribed in ink this belongs to Thomas Roberts BNS, No. 6 1868
