A French gilt and patinated bronze striking mantel clock, circa 1830
The block case surmounted by a bearded figure playing the lyre and flanked by a tazze on a polygonal pedestal, with relief cast frieze to the front depicting seated classical figures with birds against a stipple ground, with anthemion cast gallery and scroll cast feet, re-gilt and re-patinated, silvered dial with black painted Roman chapters signed Lesier à Paris, steel moon hands, re-silvered, the twin barrel movement with silk suspension and countwheel strike on bell -- 22¾in. (58cm.) high
