A German Burgonet
Circa 1570
Of bright steel, the well-formed one-piece skull with high roped comb and pointed fall attached by a line of rivets, the lower edge with a deep flange carrying a single neck-plate, deep hinged cheek-pieces each pierced with a circle of small holes and flanged to match the neck-plate, the inner edges bordered by lightly engraved lines, the main edges recessed and roped, with domed brass-covered rivets throughout, some backed by decorative brass rosettes
