1973 JAGUAR E-TYPE SERIES III ROADSTER

Light yellow with black leather interior.
Engine: V12, single overhead camshaft and twin Zenith-Stromberg carburettors to each cylinder bank, 5343cc, 272bhp at 5850rpm; Gearbox: manual four-speed; Suspension: independent all round, front by double wishbones and torsion bars, rear by lower wishbones and trailing arms with coil springs; Steering: power assisted rack-and-pinion; Brakes: power assisted vented disc all round. The original straight six Jaguar made a great impact on its announcement at the Geneva Salon in 1961, offering an unsurpassed combination of stunning style, performance and value for money. Steadily uprated in all departments, the six-cylinder E-Type kept its pre-eminence season after season while the factory carefully developed a superlative V12 engine. Just a decade after that original launch in Geneva, the V12 was squeezed into the longer wheelbase monocoque of the 2+2 fixed-head coupe. The Series III was born and Jaguar became one of the select few manufacturers listing a 12 cylinder engine. The car's structure was strengthened, there were improvements to suspension (anti-dive geometry came in), brakes and wheels. The wheel arches were flared to clear the chunky new tyres whilst there was a more assertive radiator grille. As before there were fixed head coupes as well as open roadsters. The Series III was the heaviest of the E-Types, but there was more power, with 146mph maximum demonstrated by the road-testers in the journals. Jaguar kept pace with its Italian supercar rivals at a fraction of the price.
This car comes with the standard disc wheels, air conditioning and a factory hard top. The mileage is 39,291 km and this totally original example has always been carefully maintained.
