In the Empire style, comprising a two-handled covered ecuelle, the finial formed as two doves, a saucepan with wooden ebony handle, a faceted cup and a fiddle and thread spoon and fork, each piece engraved with the arms of Napoleon I, in tooled leather case, fully marked

Lot Essay

Sold with a facsimile of an affidavit stating that the original "gold" nécessaire on which this was based used by the Emperor at the battles of Ulm, Austerlitz, Iena, etc. It was given to the City of Paris by Général Bertrand, and is now in the Musée Carnavalet in Paris.
