A PAIR OF ITALIAN CREAM-PAINTED AND PARCEL-GILT BEDSIDE COMMODES
First half 19th Century
Each with a waved and moulded brêche violette marble top above a door decorated with a central palmette within a cartouche flanked by scrolling foliage, enclosing a plain interior, the shaped angles with C-scrolls, husk-trails and an acanthus spray and the sides with foliate scrolls around a cartouche, the shaped apron with volutes, foliate sprays on scrolling conforming legs joined by a tilted shaped flat undertier with a central laurel wreath, hinged and to the reverse with a padded blue silk cover, the bottom of one compartment later

By repute the Casa Lancellotti, Rome, and made between 1815 and 1820 and thence by descent at Casa Lancellotti.
