The cover shaped as a pair of quails with finely detailed grey-brown plumage nestling on a red speckled ground scattered with peony, lotus, prunus and aquatic weeds, the oval tureen moulded in imitation of a woven basket enamelled in a bright yellow and applied at either side with bird-tail handles, minor restoration
