Lot Essay

The artist Muhammadi is better known for the type of partly coloured drawing such as can be seen at the top of this album leaf, attributed here to him. Few fully coloured miniatures, such as the one lower right, can be attributed to him, making this a rarity. (B.W.Robinson, IRAN, op.cit., p. 18)
The other portrait resembles one in the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris attributed to the artist Sadiqi.
