A German ormolu and silvered-bronze mounted porcelain casket
In the Louis XV Style, Circa 1880
Of serpentine shape, with bombé sides, the lid surmounted by the figure of Pandora seated on a bearskin, opening her casket, above four inset porcelain panels each decorated with a Watteauesque scene, with lion-pelt border and corners mounted by a lion mask, the sides each inset with a similarly decorated porcelain panel, the front corners each mounted with a female caryatid bearing a foliate chain, with flower-cast back corners, on scrolled acanthus-cast feet
15¼ in. (38.6 cm.) wide; 16 in. (40.6 cm.) high; 11½ in. (29.2 cm.) deep
