Meiji Period (Late 19th Century)
The wood cases enclosed by sheet silver on the top, bottom and sides forming a frame, enclosing a gold panel on each side, the silver frame decorated with cloisonne flowers and scrolling foliage, both panels on a kinji ground, the front with a stream in togidashi, hiramakie details, with a woman with an umbrella beneath a weeping cherry tree in a high wind, the reverse shows two vases, one with peaches and the other with chrysanthemums, suspended from a well pulley, the designs inlaid in aogai, stained ivory, tortoishell and wood, nashiji interiors, fundame rims
