ANONYMOUS. Antiquae urbis perfecta et nova delineatio. [Rome: after 1597].
Engraved bird's-eye view of ancient Rome on a full Royal sheet, 402 x 517mm, covering the whole of ancient Rome within its walls as well as some of the major buildings outside the walls, key to major buildings inset along lower margin. (Trimmed to image, with some small losses to edges, some discolouration and occasional light staining.)
A very fine view of ancient Rome, closely related to Brambilla's Antiquae urbis perfecta imago, published by Duchetti and Nicholaes van Aelst in 1582 and 1592 (Frutaz XXIV). This is a more detailed version of Brambilla's rather naive plan. It is not known which plan came first. Not in Frutaz; not in Arrigoni and Bertarelli. Watermark not seen.
