Title set along upper margin, inset dedication with the arms of Cardinal Eduardo Farnese set in a decorative cartouche, legend in architectural cartouche surmounted by the arms of Viterbo, scalebar with dividers in strapwork cartouche supported by a putto, key set along lower margin. (Some stiching holes in left hand margin, some wormholes, light staining.)
A FINE DARK IMPRESSION OF THIS VERY EARLY VIEW OF VITERBO., showing the city in its medieval form within the fortified walls. This attractive view includes many palazzi and their towers, many of which no longer survive. Not in Tooley, who lists only one other view of Viterbo, published in 1596; watermark not in Woodward, eagle in a circle surmounted by a crown.
