a french gilt-bronze and white marble striking four-glass mantel clock and garniture

The arched case surmounted by mounts of a serpent threatening a bird, with flowers trailing to the sides, with outset spire finials on projecting scrolls to the front, leaf and cabochon cast gallery to the white marble base on scroll feet, the white enamel Roman chapter ring with visible Brocot escapement to the recessed centre, retail signature G. EDWARD & SONS Edinburgh & Glasgow, steel moon hands, the twin barrel movement with twin-jar mercury pendulum and strike on bell, repeat signature to the backplate also stamped J.B.D and 28356; and the pair of five light candelabra en suite, the baluster columns with rams' mask mounts supporting four reeded scroll branches radiating below a raised central nozzle with foliate cast cover, strung with chains and cast with conforming ornament to the nozzles
