A FOUR-CASE LACQUER INRO
edo period (19th century), signed yurakusai dohaku and sealed
The long slender inro decorated in gold and iroe hiramaki-e, togidashi, hirame, wood, horn and metal inlays on a roiro ground dusted with kimpun with mandarin ducks in a marsh beside reeds, the reverse with a gilded metal tortoise in the stream, the interior cases nashiji; fitted with an ivory manju netsuke with a pierced shibuichi plate formed as a lotus leaf inlaid in brass and copper with a toad, crab and a lotus bud and a red lacquer ojime carved with waves and in aogai with dots of foam
