Lot Essay

Antonelli was born in Philadelphia and worked there as a pictorialist photographer until 1932, when he went to Rome, met Marinetti and became a member of the Futurist movement. After exhibiting his work in Italy, he returned to America in 1934 to continue with Futurism and in 1939 founded the Antonelli School of Photography in Philadelphia. His work is the collection of several American museums.
