From the upper portion of a leg, the curved element with foliate ends originally intended as a handle, merging above into the well-modeled head of a horse with flaring nostrils, open mouth, and bulging eyes, the detailed mane with a central part and projecting tufts between the ears, a rectangular shaft above with plain moldings, the upper surface socketed for attachment of a now-missing finial with a hook for supporting the basin, a perforated projecting disk behind the horse upon which X-shaped braces would hinge
