Three albums containing a total of 133 cartes-de-visite, seven hand-coloured, several identified in pencil in a later hand and the majority with photographer's printed credit label on verso, loosely inserted in pre-cut window mounts, one album lined in royal blue silk, brown morocco spine stamped in gilt, brown lacquered boards with burr pattern, front cover with applied gilt centrepiece and two onlaid ivory strips with gilt bosses, gilt metal edges to both covers, gilt clasp, g.e., 8vo.; one dark brown morocco, gilt clasps, g.e., 8vo.; the third with beadwork binding in stylised floral pattern, edged in gilt metal, spine titled Album (spine worn at head and foot), g.e., two gilt clasps, 8vo.; with thirteen additional cartes loosely inserted. Lot Essay

Two albums of society portraits, the third, including hand-tinted portraits is of stars of the opera, each identified. The latter includes three composite cards, one of which, titled Les Jambes de l'Opéra, shows the legs and feet only of sixty people.
