An unusual stole of salmon pink wool, the ends applied with four ogival cartouches of ivory silk embroidered in coloured silks with fully rigged ships, exotic flowers, an Indian style scene and exotic fruits, with a border of a single gallery of flowering cones on spikey stems worked in metal threads and silks, with silk and metal thread knotted fringe--60 x 272cm., early 19th century

Provenance
Said to have been owned by Beatrice Harrison (1892-1965) an English cellist who gave performances in this country and Europe making her debut in 1907. She was friends with H.R.H.Princess Victoria, H.M. Queen Alexandra and HRH Princess Maude, later H.M.The Queen of Norway. The shawl is said to have been a gift from the Spanish royal family.
