A gilt-metal-mounted Continental porcelain rectangular casket and domed cover
in the Naples style, moulded con basso relievo istoriato with panels of classical figures at various pursuits, the cover with leaf and scroll-moulded dividing bands, each end moulded with lion masks, the box moulded with reeded columns painted to simulate marble, with a hinged metal mount with an acanthus leaf cast clasp, velvet-lined on four gilt metal feet, blue crowned N mark, late 19th century (light rubbing to gilding) -- 38cm. x 21.5cm. x 30cm.
