Paris, 1778/1779, with the charge and discharge of Jean-Baptiste Fouache, the miniature in the manner of Pierre Rouvier

Rectangular case, the obverse and reverse set with light-green glass panels on a striped guilloché foil, framed by gold mounts and ivory bands, the borders of the sides set with bands of mother-of-pearl divided by chased gold rosettes, the cover inset with a glazed oval reserve inscribed "Souvenir D'amitié, the base with glazed oval ivory panels set with a hair pattern embellished with seed pearls and gold wire circles, the reverse of the base with secret mechanism sliding to reveal a silver panel centered by an oval portrait miniature of a young boy (39 mm high) with blond hair wearing a mauve coat with pleated lace collar and blue knotted waist-sash, French School, circa 1778, the interior of the case fitted with ivory tablets and a gold pencil holder -- 84 x 54 mm, minor damage
