A MID-VICTORIAN OAK AND EBONISED BREAKFRONT BOOKCASE
Chamfered overall, the castellated and cavetto-moulded cornice with lappeted squared finials and squared foliage paterae, the central free-standing section with three glazed doors enclosing four green leather-fringed shelves, above a moulded shelf, three frieze drawers and three panelled doors, flanked on each side by a free-standing section with a pair of glazed doors enclosing four green leather-fringed adjustable shelves, above two conforming simulated frieze drawers and a pair of panelled doors enclosing a shelf (one later), on a rectangular plinth base, the locks stamped 'SECURE PATENT' below the Royal arms, 'CLARKE & TIMMINS BIRMM', the central section and pair of side flanking sections also interchangable as freestanding bookcases, minor restorations and some later ebonising
