J.J. Confuron, Romanée-Saint-Vivant 2005
Grand Cru, Côte de Nuits
Tasting note: A gorgeously perfumed nose features a broad panoply of spice elements as well as ripe and still largely primary black piniot fruit, sandalwood, tea and discreet floral nuances. There is outstanding richness and volume to the wonderfully seductive velvet-textured flavors that coat the mouth with dry extract that also serves to buffer the moderately firm tannic spine on the hugely long finish. If there is a minor nit it's that there is a backend hint of warmth but otherwise this is a really lovely and entirely classy RSV that is nearly its apogee but for my taste I would allow it another 5ish years of bottle age first. 95p Burghound April 2016
