Celebrating Women: A Visual Dialogue of Her Narratives

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Christie’s is honored to present a private sales exhibition, “Celebrating Women: A Visual Dialogue of Her Narratives”, at Christie’s Shanghai. The exhibition highlights 13 preeminent female artists from both East and West, including Tracey Emin, Christine Ay Tjoe, Yayoi Kusama, Alice Neel, Liang Yuanwei, Cheng Xinyi, and Song Kun, among others.

Despite their diverse cultural backgrounds and artistic styles, these artists all draw inspiration from themes of the body, emotion, and desire. Their works reflect an important shift in art history: women are no longer merely “subjects to be looked at,” but have become “active voices” telling their own stories. Whether through portraiture, still life, or abstraction, each piece expresses the true power of women. Through their brushstrokes, the rich and nuanced inner world of women unfolds beautifully before our eyes.

The exhibition will be on view at Christie’s Shanghai from March 7 to 9, 2026.
