Christie’s first 20th/21st Century Art auction series of 2023 achieved a fantastic total of £201,076,762 across four live auctions in London and an online sale. London’s position as a powerful art hub drew keen international interest with participation from 45 countries, delivering combined sell-through rates of 91% by value and 87% by lot, as well as a 26% increase year-on-year in new registrants.
The excitement continues at Christie’s London with our auctions of Modern British and Irish Art, which will take place on 21 and 22 March. Discover the breadth and diversity of British and Irish Art in the 20th and 21st centuries: from exceptional paintings by L.S. Lowry, William Scott and Frank Bowling, to dynamic sculptures by Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore and Barry Flanagan, from post-war works by Lynn Chadwick and Kenneth Armitage, to Neo-Romantic examples by Keith Vaughan and Graham Sutherland. This season we invite you to find out more about ‘The Great English Vortex’ and the art movement that embodied innovation, audacity and the rebellious spirit with RADICAL ART: An Important Vorticist Collection, to be featured in both our evening and day sales.
