Classic Week sees standout results across seven auctions totaling £68,110,243

Christie’s Classic Week has achieved an extraordinary fortnight of sales, beginning with The Winter Egg and Important Works by Fabergé from a Princely Collection, which totaled £27,800,000, with the Winter Egg setting a new world auction record for a work by Fabergé.

Christie’s continues to lead the market for Old Masters for the third consecutive year, with combined July and December Evening Sale totals of £67,975,680. A standout highlight was Arnout Tholinx, Inspector, which set a record as the highest price ever achieved for an Old Master print at auction in The Sam Josefowitz Collection: Graphic Masterpieces by Rembrandt van Rijn – Part III.

Groundbreakers: Icons of Our Time delivered headline-making moments, including the Kenbak-1 computer, achieving a world-record £114,300, Spike, the Caenagnathid dinosaur, selling for £3,466,000, and J.R.R. Tolkien’s Merton College desk, which sold for six times its estimate.

A special highlight of the sale was the Aston Martin DB12 Goldfinger 007 Special Edition, which raced past its £200,000–£300,000 estimate to achieve £571,500. Offered by Amazon MGM Studios, all hammer proceeds from the sale will be donated equally to Into Film, the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain, the London Screen Academy, and UK Time’s Up, continuing Christie’s long-standing association with James Bond and charitable collaborations with EON Productions.

Elsewhere, Books and Manuscripts recorded their highest result since 2016, while Antiquities also achieved exceptional prices. Across the fortnight, collectors enthusiastically responded to Christie’s diverse offerings, reinforcing the auction house’s unmatched position in both historic and contemporary markets.
