Handbags and Accessories achieved totals HK$46 million with two consecutive records set in Hong Kong

Christie's market leadership in Handbag auctions continues with our Autumn Auctions in Hong Kong this November, achieving a total of HK$45,863,125 / US$5,942,915, double the pre-sale low estimate.
A Rare, Matte White Himalaya Niloticus Crocodile Retourné Kelly 25 with Palladium Hardware, Hermès 2019 became the most expensive handbag sold at auction when it hammered for HK$3,375,000 / US$437,330, including buyers premium, followed by another world auction record for a Rare, Matte White Himalaya Niloticus Crocodile Birkin 25 with Palladium Hardware, Hermès 2016, which fetched HK$3,000,000 / US$388,738. Both lots broke the previous world auction record set by Christie's Hong Kong in Autumn 2017.
The sale drew wide participation and intense bidding to achieve a 96% sell-through by lot and 98% sell-through by value, in which 81% of the lots sold surpassed the pre-sale high estimate.
Winsy Tsang, Vice President & Head of Sale, Handbags & Accessories, Christie’s Asia Pacific says: 'These phenomenal results are testament to Christie's exceptional curation and strong market expertise in sourcing rare and sought-after handbags in line with collecting trends. We look forward to continuing this strong buying momentum next season.'
