Le stampe di Helen Frankenthaler dimostrano il suo approccio pionieristico alla pittura Color Field, adattato alla litografia, all’incisione e alla serigrafia. Utilizzando il suo caratteristico metodo «soak-stain», applicava pigmenti diluiti per creare velature traslucide e sovrapposte che si fondono e scorrono sulla pagina. Lavorando a stretto contatto con maestri incisori e producendo spesso più stati, Frankenthaler costruiva ogni stampa strato dopo strato, perfezionando le variazioni tonali, la texture e la composizione. Il risultato sono stampe dinamiche e luminose che catturano la fluidità, il movimento e la sperimentazione cromatica che definiscono la sua opera nel suo complesso, rendendo le stampe di Helen Frankenthaler un’estensione fondamentale della sua pratica artistica.
