I disegni di Roy Lichtenstein rivelano le basi del suo inconfondibile stile Pop Art, mettendo in luce il processo attraverso cui l’artista perfezionava le immagini prima di tradurle in dipinti, stampe e sculture. Lavorando principalmente con grafite, inchiostro e pennarello, realizzava schizzi preparatori che esploravano la composizione, la linea e l’ombreggiatura. Molti di questi disegni fungevano da bozzetti per le sue opere di grandi dimensioni, catturando nella loro forma più grezza i caratteristici punti Ben-Day, i contorni decisi e le figure ispirate ai fumetti.
