L’incisione era fondamentale nella pratica artistica di Roy Lichtenstein, consentendogli di sperimentare nuove texture, colori e tecniche pur mantenendo la precisione del suo stile inconfondibile. Realizzò oltre 350 stampe, utilizzando la litografia, la serigrafia, la xilografia e la goffratura per creare opere meticolosamente realizzate quanto i suoi dipinti. Le sue stampe esploravano temi che spaziavano dagli eroi dei fumetti alle reinterpretazioni dei movimenti artistici classici. Abbracciando l’arte della stampa, Lichtenstein ampliò l’accessibilità del proprio lavoro, rafforzando al contempo la sua riflessione sulla produzione di massa e sulla cultura del consumo. Le sue stampe rimangono tra le più ricercate del movimento della Pop Art.
