A VERY RARE DATED BLUE GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE
PROBABLY YANGZHOU SCHOOL, DATED 1894
Of flattened, circular form, the vibrant blue glass bottle has a paler streak running around the circumference of the bottle and is in the form of a roof tile. It is molded on either flat side with four quadrants containing archaistic seal characters, one side reading Yan nian yizhou (May you have prolonged longevity), and the other with the names of the Han-dynasty palaces Changle and Wei Yang. Either narrow side bears a further inscription, one reading Ji Fu cang zhen (Treasured by Ji Fu), the other with the cyclical date jia wu, corresponding to 1894.
1 7/8 in. (4.8 cm.), plastic stopper
