COMPREHENSIVELY LATE 16TH EARLY 17TH CENTURY
With late 16th century tapering double-edged hollow-ground blade with low medial ridge on each side, early 17th century guard and pommel each retaining traces of original mercury gilded finish in sheltered areas, the former comprising grooved quillon-block with short straight quillons each with chequered and sprially-fluted finial, the latter chiselled en suite with the quillon-finials, and later wire-bound grip with brass wire Turk's heads
