Lot Essay


An example in the Vakiflar Musuem may be thought of as a 'transitional' example, which retains some of the details of the early 'Transylvanian' group but which includes features such as the bright yellow border and the arch at the upper end which strays into the main border (acc.no.E-17; Belkis Balpinar and Udo Hirsch, Carpets of the Vakiflar Museum, Wesel, 1988, p.316).
