MING DYNASTY, 16TH CENTURY
Within the shrine, Zhenwu, the god of war, is seated flanked by two martial guardians, below two dragons trailing down from a lintel. In the alcove above there is a smaller seated figure, possibly representing Guanyin, and a turtle entwined with a snake at his feet. The shrine is mostly glazed in turquoise and dark blue, with some details left in the biscuit.
