Lot Essay

Yongzheng bowls of this pattern are rare. Compare with a similar bowl sold at Christie's Hong Kong , 8th October 1990, lot 569.

For an example of a Xuande prototype refer to the Illustrated Catalogue of Ming Dynasty Porcelain in the National Palace Museum, pl. 62; although similar in shape and decoration, the dragons' heads are turned back.
