A fine set of Austro-Hungarian silver Torah ornaments including a pair of Rimmonim and a Torah Shield
Maker's mark LG in Rhomboid field; head of the goddess Diana, state mark for the years 1867-1922 with the letter P for Pest and the 3 silver mark, [Buda] Pest, last Quarter of 19th Century
Rimmonim:
Each set over domed circular base with a double knobbed stem, chased allover with flowers, foliage and birds, the spherical form body, pierced and chased with foliage and birds, surmounted by a similarly decorated fruit-form knob, fitted inside with suspending gilt bell
Torah Shield:
The shaped rectangular shield chased with scrolling foliage and birds, similarly decorated as the rimmonim above, centred by the Tablets of the Law inscribed in Hebrew, above a compartment (plaques lacking), flanked by applied twin columns, topped by a crown set with coloured glass stones, with an engraved Hebrew presentation inscription on lower part: "Donated by family Hechter for the memory of their brother Re'uven son of Pinchas Halevi, Dr. Hechter of blessed memory", fitted above with suspension chain
