A FINELY CARVED SOAPSTONE SEAL PASTE BOX AND COVER
KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)
Of circular section, the flattened cover is carved with a central sinuous chilong. The narrow sides of the box is decorated further with two striding chilong against a diaper-ground. The rims of both box and cover are encircled by classic scrolls and the interior incised with another chilong in the cover and a floral motif in the box.
