by Augustin-Marie-Marcelin-Esprit Mingeaud (fl. 1809-1822), marked, with the restricted warranty mark for gold, Paris, 1809-1818 and the post-Revolutionary unofficial standard mark for 20.5 carat gold, Paris
Oval box with rounded sides, the cover inset with a slightly domed orange agate panel with brown inclusions mounted jour to reflect the gold base through the semi-translucent stone, within a plain gold border enamelled with a turquoise blue zig-zag band, dark blue enamelled hinge and wavy thumbpiece, the frosted gold sides and base stamped with stylized palmettes, lotus, flowerheads and scrolls enamelled in translucent green and red and opaque dark blue, white and turquoise blue, the base centred with a multi-colour floral rosette within a red scalloped border
