Etienne-Lucien Blerzy was a close relative of the celebrated gold box maker Joseph-Etienne Blerzy (see lots 240 and 241). Etienne-Lucien was employed by Emperor Napoleon's court jeweller Marguerite, and the Louvre owns a gold vinaigrette by him set with a miniature of Empress Josephine (illustrated in Serge Grandjean, Les tabatières du musée du Louvre, Paris, 1981, no. 292, p. 211).
