Lot Essay

Born at Varzy in 1842, Emile-André Boisseau (d. 1923) studied with Dumont and Bonnassieux at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, exhibiting frequently at the Paris salon from the 1870s. The plaster of L'Amour captif is preserved in the Musée de Clamecy.
