Oppi Untracht publishes a necklace of similar form from a private collection (Traditional Jewelry of India, London, 1997, p.33). On that example, suspended beneath each loop is a large baroque emerald pendant, though she notes that these were often removed by European jewellers in the early 20th century, as seems to be the case on our example. Similar teardrop-shaped flat cut stones also appear on a fragmentary necklace in the Victoria and Albert Museum (acc.no.09229:99/IS)
