OTTOMAN TURKEY, EARLY 18TH CENTURY
Of rounded faceted form with vertical sides and slightly flaring rim, the upper part of the cavetto with applied large enamelled rosettes on each of the facets, further smaller enamelled bosses to the rim and a large boss to the centre of the interior, with three of the larger bosses now missing and majority of the gilding rubbed
5¾in. (14.5cm.) diam.

A very similar ewer and basin with enamelled bosses with a tughra from the reign of Ahmed III (r.1704-30) is in the Ethnologisches Museum in Berlin, (Jens Kröger and Désirée Heiden, 100 Jahre Museum für Islamische Kunst in Berlin, Berlin, 2004, no. 54, p. 78). A very similar bowl sold at Sotheby's London, 3 October 2012, lot 247.
