A GILT-LACQUERED BRONZE MULTI-ARMED FIGURE OF CUNDI BODHISATTVA
17TH CENTURY
The eighteen-armed bodhisattva is cast seated in dhyanasana with the primary hands held in darmacakra mudra, with a further pair of arms holding attributes below and the remaining arms fanned to the sides. The figure is draped in garlands to the chest and wears a flowing dhoti, tied at the waist, with an elaborate headdress. The face bears a serene expression with downcast eyes and a third eye to the centre of the forehead.
